pigsty
I learned a couple of weeks ago that the Bolivian Air Force has finally retired the world's last serving T-33. Bet they didn't expect that back in 1944 ...
noelh
Back in 1944 I bet they thought we'd be living on Mars by now. I'll bet it was retired by an accountant not because it outlived it's usefulness. Having said that they haven't retired the DC3 yet. That goes back further. But like the DC3 the T33 is an icon.
Head in the clouds.
South America is a treasure trove of old aircraft, both civilian and military, one place I would like to go but probably never will. I wonder when the last DC3/Dakota derivative will be retired?
Corsairfoxfouruncle
I personally believe the DC-3/C-47/Dakota’s will be the 1st ever century type aircraft. The first type to still be in service in some shape or form for 100 years.
Black Knight
I think the Ford Trimotor will beat the DC3 to that accolade. There are eight Ford 4-AT/5-AT Trimotors still in use commercially. The earliest dates from 1927
