carter478
According to the refference, Su-27 red 36 left tail hit the P3B engine prop and damaged, but I noticed that the widespread black and white picture of it looked not like left tail! Anybody get some idea?
Flankerman
Good call carter478 !!! All my refs say port fin tip - but the B&W photo shows maybe starboard fin tip. One caveat - Red 36 was an early Su-27 with anti-flutter weight - so maybe the aerials and panels changed ?? Still intriguing though - be interesting to find out a definitive answer. carter478
I found the T-10-17 prototype with anti-flutter weight, on the other hand, the B&W photo shows no red star on position if it is left vertical tail? huh......

I think that confirms it - starboard fin it is !!! Good detective work - I have been looking at that B&W photo for years and never noticed the aerials and lack of red star I'm getting too old!
