Quick release fittings

Hi folks,

the wonderful mrs lawzer bought me the revell starter airbrush set for Christmas.  Works great but the only thing is it's just a push on hose from the compressor to the a/b and as i bought another a/b (daren't tell her! 😆) i want to use both.  Went to my local shop today and the guy said you can get a push on quick release adaptor but i can't remember what he said it was called.  Something like easy connect or the like.  Any one know the name of this (or of any other similar gadgets)?

Hey Ian - this is my 'preferred' internet supplier - really fast / good quality / good pricing - and he's even a really nice guy too...

You need this two part piece to get you going...

https://www.scalemodelshop.co.uk/1-8-bsp-quick-disconnect-body-and-plug.html

...then an extra one of these for the bottom of the second brush...

Are these a standard fit regardless of make, please?

I'll be honest - I don't know for sure - but they fitted my H&S EVO airbrush - which is one of the 'industry standard' brushes on the market - so I would guess so...

Thanks folks.

i have the q/r couplings - problem is the air hose is just a push on type - no threaded connector to attach the q/r fitting to.  It's an adaptor for that i need (if such a thing exists)....

...push on at both ends - to the brush and the compressor???

Maybe you need a new hose too???

Yup both ends...

the compressor itself is just a push on connection (which considering how much it cost i'm quite surprised at) :(

What brand/version is the compressor? Photo would help sort out what may be needed but I would suggest new connectors both ends and a new hose is the way to go.

P

you took the words right out of my mouth...

'push-pull' connections on some pumps are common - with a little ring around the hole that you - push - then - pull the tube to release it - not really 'budget' just 'another way'.

How about a picture...

I might just try putting the airbrush end of the hose in HOT water the see if i can screw the q/r fitting into it.  If it all goes wrong i can always just cut off that bit.....

From your photos, it appears to me the hose connector will screw off the airbrush body, you'll need to replace that with a male quick release connector of the appropriate thread (someone on here might be able to help with that) & cut off the hose fitting & replace with a female quick release fitting, Paul (little cars) above might be able to advise on that, probably be happy to sell you the right bits too. :)

I don't see the quick-release you bought, is it one of these? https://newgaga.guphotos.com/i/w?u=/images/E/5/E1395/E1395-1-7881-RhiV.jpg

If so you need an additional part: https://www.image-tmart.com/prodimgs/2/22001483/Airbrush-Spray-Gun-Air-Hose-Splitter-Connector-Fitting-Part-_800x800.jpg

You connect those two and just force the hose over the part in the second link (you can secure it in place with a zip-tie if you want). Or you can place an order with Paul for a custom hose.

I agree. I have no experience of a compressor like that one. Talking to an airbrush supplier would be the best route and they will be able to give you the most suitable solution.

Goos luck    P
