Glenn Fitzgerald
Hi everyone thanks for accepting me to the group. My love of Aviation stems mainly from being about four or five years old and sitting down one christmas and being awe struck by a junkers 52 flying through a snowy mountain terrain accompanied by one of the best in my opinion war film theme scores , "Where Eagles Dare" it captured me as a nipper in the 70s and remains my favorite film to this day. Needless to say then that WW2 aircraft are my main interest although growing up through the 80s cold war stuff excites me too. I also model armour and ships when I can find precious time to model. Like most of us I guess I built planes tanks and some sci fi stuff as a kid and teenager but then packed it all away when life got in the way. About five years ago I got the bug again and built a lot of armour and vehicles in 1:72 scale and aircraft in 1:144, a few changes in my life mostly ones I wish hadn't happened have meant I don't now get much to model but when I do I find it an escape from the mayhem of the real world and a journey back to those days when WW2 captured my imagination. I have recently got bored or lost interest in the world of the fiddly 144 scale and decided to reignite the flame by going 1:72. When I was about 11 I received the Heller /Humbrol Gloster Gladiator kit for Christmas, built it in a day played with it and it probably is now in the attic, so last week I found the same vintage kit for sale and decided to give it a go and use the opportunity to practice with my new airbrush as I've always handbrushed models,. I love reading all the forums on here and find it all very interesting and hopefully soon I can add to that with my Gloster Gladiator. Many thanks Glenn

When I read your introduction about the Ju-52 I thought that you must have been in Switzerland watching the last operational ones, then I read on...That's still a good film isn't it.
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Hello Glenn ... to Britmodeller from Chicago USA. “Where Eagles Dare” is one of my favorites as well. So much so that I plan on building that Ju-52 someday. The Gladiator is a great plane so i look forward to seeing your work. Dennis
