billn53
Major painting is complete. Doing the fuselage patches freehand was a new experience for me. They're not as neat as I would prefer but I think they'll do. Hopefully I'll get better with my airbrush with practice. I'll next do some touch up, then spray a gloss coat in preparation for decals and weathering. Stay tuned! stevehnz
Looks good to me Bill, I can see another stunna in the making, like your P-61 that I followed. Steve.
billn53
Very nearly done: I actually have more photos to share, but I'm having problems uploading to Flickr. It's either an issue with Flickr's server, or else my iPhone somehow got screwed up. By next post I should be ready for a RFI. :-))
billn53
Flickr is working again so I'm uploading a few of the final work-pics before getting to the RFI. Here you go... Landing gear installed. There are some fragile items here and (surprise) the fit isn't great: I'm substituting metal items for the kit's plastic radar antennae. I bent stainless tubing for the supports. The antennae themselves are AM (not yet installed in these photos). The pitot tube is also stainless: Dragon gives a PE part for the dorsal hoop antenna, but it's unrealistically two-dimensional. I made a replacement from wire: I painted the exhaust flame dampeners flat black, then weathered it with rust-colored pigment powder: And, finally, she is done! Usually I have a feeling of satisfaction at the completion of a build. This one, however, simply wore me out and I'm glad it's over. That's all folks!
