"Are 'Friends' Electric?" indeed they are! The English Electric Lightning F.1 by Airfix 1/48 RFI

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon everyone. It's been a long time coming but I felt I had to get this done as it was such a fun build.

A quintessential 60s jet in 80s clothes. "Are 'friends' electric?" in this case my friends the answer is definitely yes!

Please bare with me while I pass a bunch of photos past your eyes.

I hope you approve of what I did to the heaps of plastic that I found in my box.

There you are, a lovely bird, not to everyone's liking but I find her mesmerising. I hope you liked the RFI

It was a pleasure to have you all along for the WIP.

I'm currently building the Mahoosive Tamiya Lancaster 1/48. If you would like to tag along you can grab on here.

Looking forward to more plastic in 2018.:penguin:

Happy Modelling guys.

Johnny Newman. ;)

Just kidding, excellent job and wonderful pics too :clap:

I know nothing about this aircraft and never really had an interest in it, but your rendition made me appreciate it all the way

I still don't understand the title but I love the build. Gorgeous work! Camouflage Lightnings are my favourite, and this is just spot on.

English.  Electric. :-)

Lovely.  I hesitate to say this, but ... it's a Mk.3.  Your title says F.1.  [ducks]

Yes, I realise that but Airfix put F.1 on the box and as you may or may not know, I don’t know too much about Aeroplanes but am learning more with every build. So yes she’s an F.3 and not an F.1 as stated but whadda the hey? ;)

And yes as @At Sea said.

if you read the start of the WIP thread it explains everything. I happend to be listening to GN before embarking on this build An English “Electric” Lightning. And done in a very 80s scheme. “English” “Electric”, “80s” . Makes sense right?

:elephant: Thanks again to everyone who followed along and to those who like the jet.

Property values in the Stourbridge area are sure to soar now with this piece of public sculpture enriching the neighbourhood.

You spoil us with this sweet silvery goodness Johnny.

Rich work (as always).

She looks stunning! An absolute beauty this one.

I must ask though, why is one of the blue bars missing next to the nose roundel?

Thanks. :) I couldn’t say about the blue bar. That’s the decal. If you look closely you can see a slight difference in the green where the green decal is. I guess it was a thing?
