M7 Priest

I've started to build some of my AFV stash lately, usually as part of a GB. So it seems a good idea to join in here. I went through the stash to see what's suitable and came across this.

Its the Revell rebox of the Matchbox Priest and comes with a set of US paratroopers. I started a few weeks ago but progress is slow, due to a combination of being insanely busy at work, rugby commitments and a bit of a health problem. However here is the obligatory sprue shot.

Classic instructions as well.

I'll finish it as an early desert campaign version

Progress to date. Hull assembled. Went together well, but I find this Revell plastic a bit hard and it doesn't soften and bind terribly easily with Tamiya Extra Thin or solvent. It does harden up well after being left for a while but means progress can be slowish. I've tried to do some painting as I go along but my Humbrol sand colour is really thin and needs a few coats. Normally I would wait to the end to paint but with the intricacies of the open interior it needs painted before the hull is completed.

A few more coats of paint needed before completing the interior and getting the hull finished.

Now the gun

its all nicely moulded and should look good in a month or so's time

Progress has been slow, due to rugby, having to work weekends and some problems with my hands and wrists. However, have got all the wheels on and much of the interior done.  As well as umpteen coats of paint. Here we are.

I think its think its going to be a struggle to finish, especially as I am away Easter weekend. But I'll see what I can do.

Front end on. Took a wee bit of persuasion but stuck down ok

The seams might need a bit of attention. Maybe some filler but I'll try a gentle sanding first. The machines were fairly robustly industrially produced so may look like a weld seem once sanded down.

Nice going 825, nice to see some progress on her.

Thanks guys. I've got about 40 minutes tomorrow morning (and there's already some more paint on). So I'm hopeful of finishing off. I've a 4.30 am start on Friday so no time there.  Let's hope we get there and get this humble attempt into the gallery.

Ran out of time unfortunately. Here's where I got to before leaving for the airport on Good Friday at 4.30 am.

There isn't much to do so I'll finish it off in the next couple of days. But unfortunately it won't go in the gallery.

Finished. I'll weather it and take some more photos to place in RFI gallery. Sorry I missed the deadline for the GB but too many things got in the way.
