I was quite fortunate on this one as it was only about 3mm and I just used some thick superglue once the 2 halves were together and re scribed the curved line. My second one I'm doing is worse and most of the leading edge is missing....I think what I'll do is pretty much the same but with filler so I can shape it easier. As its going to be dark grey I might get away with a pencil line to replicate the engraved section. I'll let you know....Have fun anyway! Yes, your 2nd kit sounds like mine...I may try the super glue method after practice on old sprues.
