bentwaters81tfw
Self explanatory really. Looking for an appropriate blue/grey for the topside of the Backfire. The ESCI kit instructions call for Humbrol 27, which is way off. Any suggestions folks? TIA Frank
huvut76g7gbbui7
Is this of any use? https://www.cybermodeler.com/aircraft/tu-22m/tu-22m_profile01.shtml I have it bookmarked for when I get around to finishing mine!
bentwaters81tfw
Thanks Richard. Humbrol 165 MSG I have in rattle cans so that's easy. Doesn't seem blue enough, but that is probably down to in service fading.
Flankerman
The colour varies so much - from a blue-grey on freshly repainted examples, to a light grey on more faded machines. Don't tell the colour police - but I used a rattle can of acrylic car spray on my Trumpeter Tu-22M2 (Halfords Ford Polar Grey)..... http://www.flankers-site.co.uk/modl_tu-22m2-trump.html The real thing at Ryazan.... (actually the one-off Tu-22M3 fitted with NK-32 engines from a Blackjack - note the four rows of blow-in doors) Ken

JPuente54
Ken, too late, they may be on their way to your door now. AKAN offers two paints for the Tu-22M series: 73059 Gray(faded) in their acrylic line; and, 63059 Gray(faded) in their acrylic lacquer line. Jamie, glad to see that you are re-doing the Modern Soviet/Russian AF paints. I look forward to you offering the underside colors. Joe
