Jabba
This is my entry into this GB. I am using the ever popular Daco 737-300 and using their Sam's Town (chosen by SWMBO) decal sheet. I have used this kit twice before using it to make the Simpsons and Stardust schemes of Western Pacific. The kit. The parts, The instructions and kit decals. The Sam's Town decal sheet.

feoffee2
A nice livery choice. Hope it goes well. Thanks
pinky coffeeboat
Add me to the "following" list. At the time, when Western Pacific were in business and showing their logo jets I wasn't much taken by them, but looking back especially compared to today's dull white monstrosities, they certainly were different and stood out very well. halcyonjet
With a pretty cowgirl on the tail, what's not to like. Great choice! Dave

Jabba
Fuselage and wings glued together. I will cut off the interlocking device before I fit the wings.
Jabba
A small update as the wings and main UC wheel bay cover are now added. A little filler required I feel.
Jabba
The model is now filled and sanded. I have yet to build up the engines, but will do so in the coming week. I do have a question about he paint scheme of this aircraft in that the decal instructions say to paint it Metallic Gold. Does anyone have a good recommendation for this colour? I do normally use Humbrol paints, but I am open to other companies if I can get hold of them.
Graeme H
I seem to remember that Daco did some of these paints themselves, maybe try an email to Danny and see if that was one of the colours Edited March 7, 2018 by Graeme H Spelling

I will try Danny about the colour, just asking mainly if anyone else knew something different.
Jabba
Engines now added, and this was primed last night with a few spots to fill. I now have to find some gold paint, so it maybe a trip to Halfords tomorrow to see what is available.
Skodadriver
Some time ago I built the Revell 738 in the Haribo gold scheme, probably one of only two occasions in my modelling life when I've used the decals that came in the kit. The model has been to many shows where it usually attracts attention and several times I've been asked how I did the gold. The answer is bog standard Humbrol 16. The Sam's Town aircraft is probably more ochre in colour (Haribo was definitely gold) but Humbrol 16 might be a starting point for a mix.

Viking
That gold looks good, and it's nice to see the decals going on. They look to have settled down nicely.
Jabba
Thanks for your comments. I now have almost all the decals on, just a few that can be left to later to go. I did not manage to apply the leading edge of the fin decal as it just would not settle no matter how I tried, so I will paint this later. Hopefully tonight I will add the U/C before applying a coat of Klear over the top of everything.
Spad
Looking really good - I reckon I might need to try another of these Daco 737s with that scheme - or the other one, or both!
Jabba
All finished now. Two close ups of the tail markings. And finally one with two of its brethren.
