Ki-61-Tei Tamiya 1/48

Recommended Posts

Hi Gents. This is the superb Ki-61-Tei from Tamiya in 1/48th in the colors of the 19th Sentaï, an emergency unit swallowed by the God of War in the Philippines in 44. I have used pictures of real aircrafts of this unit to create the paint job, using the hair spray technic. All markings are mask made, and the tail markings touch up with a brush to simulate the hand paint job. Best regards.

Zigomar, thanks for sharing your build. It's beautiful. The markings look fantastic but, as others have mentioned, the mottling looks amazing! True field-applied quality, and I mean that as a compliment. It all looks spot-on.

I want to build one of these kits as a machine being restored to fly here, but that means waiting until it's rolled out until I know the paint scheme. Until then your build will serve as an inspiration for that project. And I kinda want to build one right now!

That is a great effort. The hair spray technique works very well with the Japanese aircraft because of the way that the paint literally peeled off sometimes. Now if only I can get the courage to try it sometime !!!          Bob H.

Impressive job Jean, bravo! :worthy::clap::clap:

I have the same kit in my stash and it's supposed to be my next project.

Now I'm slightly intimidated, though....

Ciao

Grazie mio amico!
