Threadbear
I am in the process of building the old Monogram T6 Texan in 1/48th for a Facebook group build. I am now ready for some application of paint. By the early 1950s would a training aircraft in RAF service have gone through a rebuild? If so, would the cockpit and cowling etc remained in US cockpit green or been repainted in RAF grey green? Thanks for any input. Grahame.
Wez
Generally, painting a complete cockpit is really tricky, think about it, it requires removals of wiring looms, instruments, controls, pipes etc. Not the sort of thing you want to do unless you really have to. That said, individual components and panels can be replaced and these may be in different colours, lustres or subtly different shades. Look in the cockpit of older military aircraft, the finish is far from uniform and will be a patchwork of finishes. This doesn't apply to restorations. So what I'm saying is, they're most likely to be in their original finish but with some areas repainted.
