So you want to buy a car?

Recommended Posts

I'll stick with my 05 reg Mondeo then.

Cost me under 2 grand almost three years ago and now just coming up to 60,000 miles.

All it costs a month is petrol and a service once a year.

Wouldn't give a thank you for a PCP.

Of course, given a lottery win, I'd go Tesla (probably).

Good luck with your search for a Karoq.

Plus I need to get a comfy car as one day I hope to offer @Mike a lift somewhere in exchange for that gorgeous Mig 31 he built ( and some free abuse).

Depending on which way the abuse flows, I'd like a lift to New York and a shopping allowance please :wicked:

Now if I could find a decent P1800 (and  a few tons of P38 filler cheap) I'd be very tempted.

I've a mate from Brisbane who has an estate. Doubt that you want to get it shipped surface back to the UK from where it came from before.

That said I've got a Vicarage Mk2 drophead and a current SL400 so I could do some showing off unaided but thats not the point.

I've had two Skodas from the main dealer in Northampton and it has been a painless experience on both occasions. In fact I'd say they have provided by far and away the best dealership experience I've had. Then again, I didn't phone them up giving it the Billy Big Bobbins 'cos they didn't have the exact car I wanted to test drive.

The local Fiat/Alfa dealership, on the other hand, is like hell with fluorescent lighting. Couldn't be less courteous, cocked up the order by failing to spec the spare wheel and then, when they finally managed to sort it out, handed over the spare wheel and watched me fit it myself in the rain. No need to resort to sarcasm though, just a polite word with the dealer principal and an apology and full tank of fuel were forthcoming.

Hey Paul, I think you may have misheard me, they said  they had no record of me having booked any test drive despite an email that said i had, they had no Karoqs of any description in case...apparently this "Nick" person not only didn't put me in the diary but they had no idea where the car was. Turns out he was using it and of course he was off sick according to the director. Myself and Big Billy Bobbins might have appreciated being apprised of that fact instead of waiting an hour for the the "confirmation call" that never came...but perhaps you're right I may have an attitude problem, I hadn't really thought of it like that ^_^

Have a look at this , Billy Bob Spuckler maybe "real" if not actually in the car business...ps the clue in is the name Cletus Spuckler (any Simpsons fans here?) and the fact the suffolk gazette seems not be the venerable organ of truth one might suspect.

Evening Chaps :bye:

I think Azureglo is completely right in his response to said Car Dealers.

You would think that, with the prospect of a cash sale, they would pull the proverbial rabbit out and make sure what the customer wants, happens.

Even if they couldn't do it on the required date, then give an alternative, as quickly as possible.

Or maybe they are so over their targets that they can now pick and choose with whom they wish to do business with :)

I do however like the confidence in the statement, 'you can go to my directors....' Yes dear, i'm sure they'll see your side of the story :)

How very dare you. It's right up there with the likes of the Daily Fail, only more believable.

They do catch out the mainstream media on occasion, who publish some of their articles as fact.

If your opening post is an accurate record of your conversation, then l think it could come across as sarcastic and rude and likely to annoy staff members who might have helped you. Why not just explain what's happened, say you're unhappy and say what you want them to do to rectify the situation? It usually works.

Time for this to go to bed now.  Seems to have got a bit off-track, and the humorous nature of Anil's initial post seems to be lost on some people.
