Ratch
The first B47's of the Strategic Air Command arrived in May 1956 as part of the 10th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing. These were jet bombers which carried nuclear weapons, and were maintained on a 24 hours alert status as part of the NATO response to the Warsaw Pact. In August 1959, Boeing RB-66 reconnaissance jets joined the Chelveston air base. These were electronic counter measures versions of the B-66 bomber, and they stayed at the base until August 1962. The T-33 was a squadron hack. The B-47 and T-33 are both Hasegawa, and the RB-66 by Italeri (1/72)

Buzby061
Lovely, the B-47 is a great looking aircraft. Never heard of Chelveston. Just looked it up & there doesn't seem to a trace of it, a renewable energy park has obliterated the site. Pete

gingerbob
Weird how big the RB-66 looks, except in the third (more from above) shot. At first I wondered if it was a different scale!
Ratch
Thanks guys, the RB-66 was a biggish 'plane, bigger than a B-

jean
Hi Ratch, these models are rather impressive, especially the two biggies! I really like the NMF finish you have achieved. Not to mention that it is good to know some people in the civilized world still have big enough dwellings to home these behemoths!!! Super show, congrats!
