Good afternoon

For my first build in this Gb I will build the Academy Hawker Tempest

http://modelingmadness.com/review/allies/previews/acad/1669.htm

I will represent one of the aircraft used by Regis Deleuze a young french pilot who scored 8 V1 kills whith the Sqn 501 between august  7 and december 18 1944 . Three days after arriving at 274 Squadron on february 22 1945 Flight Lieutenant Deleuze was shot down by the german Flak at Werkhoven near Bunnik, the Netherlands .

That looks very tidy Patrice, very little filler either that I can see, would be typical of an Academy kit if that is so.

Good morning Steve

Thank you but in fact I do had to use some putty at the wing root on the upper side ..

Best regards

As your name suggests - it looks like Tempest fever has certainly kicked in on Patrice’s modelling bench. No doubt you’ve already seen the huge difference between these kits and the Matchbox offering? The Academy mould being quite well detailed, however the old Matchbox kit is a little closer overall compared to Arthur Bentley’s plans. I know your at an advanced stage here Patrice, however the Academy kit does suffer from a slightly bulged look around the wing tip and aileron profile. A few swipes of a sanding stick should narrow these areas closer to is proper shape.

Cheers and good luck... Dave

Good evening Dave

Thank you for your interest , no need to say that there is a huge difference between the Academy and the Matchbox Tempest .. I must admit that I didn't compared the Academy to the plans in the 4+ book I use I will try to correct the bulged look around the wing tip and aileron profile tomorrow thank you for pointing that ..

Best regards

Patrice

Always seems a good step forward to me once the camouflage colours start going on Patrice. The Tempest does look rather different in a two-tone grey scheme though

If I have enough time I may try to build a post war Tempest in NMF ...

A post-war NMF Tempest would be lovely but if not in this GB then perhaps I can interest you in this one...
