Sherman M4  early production (welded hull)

 Tamiya 1/48

 

 

 incl. RB barrel and M2 MG improvement set.....

I am showing here my very first excursion into Armour modelling :)

of course in 1/48 , as all (most) of my plane models are in this scale.....

 

build thread to be found in the concurrently running Sherman GB here at BM, so if anybody is still interested, it runs until April 1st :D

 

be gentle, but here it is!
 

out of the box, but a metal barrel and M2 maschine gun from RB - great sets by the way!

As first attempted to armour I will say you did very good job. In my opinion it is almost always worth to replace the kit MG's and main gun barrel for metal ones. 

But there is on small thing wrong on your Sherman, which is done by lots of modeller the same way. On the photo below you can see two "bars" painted black where the tools are located. The long crowbar is metal one, but the shorter is the handle for the pick and it should be wooden.

A very nice and clean build. Well done. I hope that my first tank build will turn out as well as yours. I just finished the Tamiya 1 / 48 Russian Jeep and am now going to start the Tamiya 1 / 48 Tiger I ( Late Production ) ... let the fun begin !!!        Bob H.

Actually I once started  Tiger I, but never finished it.... had bigger troubles painting the rubber on the many wheels!!
