The history of the Soviet era space stations is very interesting, ranging from the original Salyut 1 through to Salyut 7, the Almaz military stations and finally Mir. Elements of the Soviet design of module that formed the basis of the Salyus, Almaz and Mir are also used in the International Space Station. If the Russians decide to launch future space stations of their own (as they have hinted at) I am pretty sure we will see more iterations of the Salyut design. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
