HEY - You helped me build a Sherman Firefly

BIG X

Recommended Posts

In my haste to start my 6pdr gun and carrier - I forgot to do my RFI for the Sherman Firefly that I finished in the run up to Christmas.  This was a MASSIVELY enjoyable build.  The PSC KIT is designed for wargamers - but is great for an AFV beginner like me.  It simply fell together and all I had to do was drill a few lifting hook holes and find something to make aerials with.  With the Sherman GB going on at present - don't be confused - this isn't part of that - it's just a bit of pre Christmas fun...

...and if you were wondering how we got here - here is the WIP thread...

I hope you like it and thanks for taking a look - Steve

Hey - it's a free world - but I guess I could have chosen my words better :giggle:

...but you have given me an idea - I never thought of diving Stukas - I only have B's and R's though - no G' s - was that the one with the big cannon underneath???

I've been messing about 'experimenting' with scenery - well a bit of cardboard and stuff - for a more 'dramatic look for the Sherman - here it is...

And what is the definition of air superiority?

Oh yes, I remember: a tank on the runway. 😉

That would be great if it were in 1/35th, in one seventy-tooth it's super-fantastic.

As for the diorama I'd have 'sunk' the vehicles into the track, otherwise it's simple yet very effective.

Praise indeed coming from a top man like yourself.  This was only an 'experiment' with a bit of painted white card / PVA / green stuff / tufts etc...

Building convincing dioramas is a skill I haven't even consider - yet...

...but I do follow your ever evolving dio with great interest and marvel at the stuff you achieve.

Thanks for the encouragement ;)

At Gorby's specific request I bought this today...

The Academy JU87-G2 'KANONEN VOGEL' - for the princely sum of 7 quid from my LMS - which is having a closing down sale.

Who could resist a Stuka with guns that big :mental:
