Spitfires over Israel

Recommended Posts

Hello. I decided to build these two models after reading several articles about the 1948 Israeli/Egyptian conflict. If you are interested there is one of the shorter articles here.

The Israeli Spitfire is Revell's 1/48 finished with Revell Aqua silver and decals from Techmod. I found the decals quite difficult to settle, even with copious amounts of Micro Sol/Set. The Egyptian example is the Hasegawa 1/48 bought directly from Japan Plaza. Took a while to arrive but it was the cheapest option. The paint was hand brushed using Hataka's rather nice Blue Line series.

Cool...I have some decals to do something similar, as well as a kit of a S-199 (Czech built 109). I've just started reading this:

Angels In The Sky....cool story about the pilots of the 1948 fledgling Israeli Air Force. Its a fascinating read so far, and I haven't even got to the fighter aircraft bit yet!

Cheers

Tania

Marvellous Spitfires with great markings.  I find it hard to find fault with anything in Israeli airforce markings, and the Egyptian one looks great too.

Thanks, Natter, I appreciate that.
