speedbird
Hi guys, new to this part of Brit modeller as I haven’t built an armour subjects since the early 80s and I know very little about the subject. I have recently started building kits I built as a kid way back in the 70s especially those that I never got round to having a go at and all purely for nostalgia.. I got an old Airfix Sherman and LCM but both lack decals.. I’m not too fussed about the LCM as I can probably do some myself but not so for the Sherman, so can anyone advise me about what’s out there decal wise for 1/76 scale armour? I’m looking for some British markings for the ETO if possible.. I’ve also got the Airfix scorpion again without decals so does anyone know where I might find some after market examples
Graham Boak
Look for Mike Starmer (Mike Starmer, 18 Hillside Road , Piddington, Northants , NN7 2DB) and Dan Taylor http://www.dantaylormodelworks.com/transfers-13-c.asp., both of which do a significant number of WW2 subjects. However I don't know any source for modern stuff. A useful guide is the Miniature Armoured Fighting Vehicle Association, so look at their website http://www.mafva.net/. Also the Braille Scale forum within Missing Lynx http://www.network54.com/Forum/47210 The Airfix Sherman is an early variant and you may find some difficulty in finding anything appropriate, as opposed to Desert Shermans or D-Day and later examples. speedbird
Cheers for that graham.... looks like I’m stuck with a kit I can’t build 🙁 like I said I don’t know anything about armour modelling and I wouldn’t have a clue how to mod the Airfix Sherman to represent a later version if indeed it were possible...so I guess im at s dead end 🙁
sapperastro
Just get another 1/76 sherman and use the alternate decals that come with that. It isn't like the airfix sherman is hard to find, and it is one of the cheapest things you can pick up in modelling.
badger
Hi I may have spare decals for both tanks (and the lcm). I'll dig through the decal spares but it could be the weekend before I get chance. If you can PM me your address I'll pop what I find in the post to you. Kind regards Ben 10 hours ago, sapperastro said: Just get another 1/76 sherman and use the alternate decals that come with that. Sadly you only get one choice as I recall
