PlaStix
That looks like a really nice kit. I will be interested to see your build of it. Looking good so far. Kind regards, Stix
Andy Moore
Nice progress. Miniart do like their tiny parts. The results usually look great in the end though. Andy
robw_uk
off white interior painted (slight pre-shade of sandy brown)... Mr Color paint not the best painting. robw_uk
oooooops - didnt notice that the off white paint was GLOSS!!!!! guess matt varnish will dull it down - will get some matt for the turret....

robw_uk
well a quick brush test on the gloss that is behind the storage bin - matt varnish works so thats this one saved. will do some detail painting this afternoon. Cant find any references so going to have to go with what are in the instructions/look good....
robw_uk
applied matt varnish to the gloss paint (ooops) and added some detail painting. still need to do more on it tho: IMG_20180114_161356 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180114_161408 by Robert Worth, on Flickr

robw_uk
interior weathered and started on the engine compartment. not 100% happy with the colour of the fuel tank - believe some engine parts (engine block for example) on some WWII allied vehicles was a blue colour. think this is a bit too green.... but still have the option to button it up IMG_20180118_194713 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180118_194742 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180118_194759 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180118_194836_1 by Robert Worth, on Flickr IMG_20180118_194818 by Robert Worth, on Flickr
robw_uk
oh boy this is fiddly.... sides on, started on the underneath - think that is going to be challenging when it comes to painting. i may brush paint the underside, think that may be easier as the engine has to be painted before being fitted (any thoughts on colour??) noeyedears
no idea on the engine colour. the promo pics show it looking black all over, and a couple of builds (one on britmodler) have been done with black block, head and transfer case with an ally crankcase. is this correct, no idea. not much help im afraid. I will need to paint the rear underside and engine before much more progress.... PlaStix
That's good looking progress Rob. That engine looks nicely detailed. But I'm afraid I cannot help with the colour. Kind regards, Stix
robw_uk
engine painting started.... after 2 minutes research it seems "black" is the colour... so went with black-grey mixed with gunmetal for a bit of patina... i will be highlighting with german grey mixed with steel (should lighten it), some parts picked out in oily steel and some rusting.... have painted the radiators the same colour and some engine room piping. that may get some rusty patches but not thinking the desert would generate much rust? robw_uk
engine done, bit of steel, grey, black, rust and dry brushing to accentuate... still not sure if i will leave the engine cover open but has been good practice for the Scammel which has an expose engine (at least the sides).... need to paint the chassis close to it before trying to add it in...
