crew figure still?

Certainly the commander Dave I was going for a dio base but decided to give it a miss and save it for the Churchill as there's a sprue

of figures in the kit.

Cheer's guy's this weekend's work over,I gave the whole tank a very dry brush in Vallejo aluminium over the hard edges and contour's.

The tool's and accesories were painted on the sprue then added, the crates are glued in place the oil drums dry fitted the way I'll complete

them tied down.

And last job was a dusting of suitable colour lightly over the hull to tone down the marking's a little heavier around the skirting,I also ran

a dry brush silver around the track edging.Still a few washes to do and more kit to hang next time.

Looks great mate! Thanks for the tip on dry brushing the edges, very useful for a non-armour builder such as myself!

Cheer's Dave I use a flat brush about3/4 inch and once dipped in whatever colour get it dry as possible especially with silver,I never wash it

either jusy dry it naturally (only acrylics mind)'

A metallic dry-brush!  :o

Gutsy move and you've pulled it off a treat, but the thought of getting it wrong with metallics fills me with dread.....Consequently I tend to use a variant of my base colour for edge-highlighting.  ;)

Very nice Steve!! Love the helmets hanging on the rucksacks

Thank's a lot, they need a re-paint and I need to get some thick thread that I can pass off as rope!

embroidery or tapestry thread can be quite thick, might be worth a try? tons on ebay but I think you really need to actually see it to get a good handle on it.

There's a Boyes store down the road Dave I'm of Friday so I'll try their habidashery dept.

If you've got a shop anywhere near to you that specialises in model ships, try there. I bought some years ago. I think that it's made for rigging. It's hairy, but run it between your fingers with some dilute white PVA glue and it works a treat.

Morning folk's I think that's about it for the front stowage as you can see the figure is assembled now for the dreaded painting so any colour pointers

would be much appreciated.

That's looking rather nice fella, considering it's one of Tamiya's golden oldies I think it

looks the business :goodjob:

Pointers for the crew,  There might be something you can draw out of my old build?

Vallejo do a set in the Panzer Aces range that covers US Army tank crew uniforms,  think I used those colours on my build.

It's all coming together nicely Steve - I like what you have done with the stowage. I afraid haven't done any Sherman crew figures before so can't really help with ideas for colours, etc.

Kind regards,

Stix

Thank's Stix,I arranged the stowage in a similar manner to a photo found online,Tamiya's instructions show the track spare's reversed but most

period photo's show them as done,Dan's post has a great guide to the uniform from his build.
