Lord Riot
Does anyone know if any manufacturer makes an F-4M or K with the Spey engines that could be made as an RAF Phantom in 1/48th scale? Ebay just seems to throw up American versions, with only F-4Js suitable as a 74 Sqn jet, but I'd like an FGR2 ideally.
Wez
Hasegawa did both the FG.1 and the FGR.2, Revell reboxed the FGR.2. Hasegawa have just reissued the FG.1 - see here, hope you have deep pockets! Your best bet is to put something up in the Wanted section to see if anyone's willing to part with one, preferably without you having to part with an arm and a leg or having to sell a kidney! Don McIntyre
I think the British Phantoms are some of the rarer Hasegawa phantom kits (right up there with the RF-4C…)
theplasticsurgeon
If you can find one - give this a swerve. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/992490-revell-4502-mcdonnell-douglas-phantom-fg1 More like an F-4J - with Speyish style exhausts. I build this one around 1979 - before I knew any better :-)
Phone Phixer
A search on Ebay for 1/48 British Phantom brought up this selection. https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=1%2F48+British+Phantom&LH_PrefLoc=2&rt=nc If you can find the Revell re-box, they seem to go for less than the Hasegawa original. 71chally
It's not that the Hasegawa (also boxed by Revell) kit is rare, it's just that people selling them ask horrendous prices for them, EBay being the worst place. I found one at a jumble for £18. When HLJ had them in stock they were around £25 new. Like the smaller Fujimi kit, it is a very nice kit for its time and an enjoyable build, although like that one it doesn't have full depth intakes.
