Also, the cut out in the fuselage seems deeper in your photos of the real thing, the top of the ring only makes it about half way up, but I don't think its only half the height.

Yep, I completely agree. Wish I'd spotted this earlier, way, way earlier.

Okay.

After some sanding:

And now, after some truly radical sanding:

That looks close enough to right for me. Huge failure on the part of MPM, in my opinion, not that it will affect them any, and really, this proves why people should build the kits they review. I can't believe this has never been mentioned even by people who've built the damn thing, because it was really obvious as soon as I test-fitted it. And I'm famously unobservant.

Feel free to admire also my hirstute and shapely wrists.

Beaufort?

In your dreams I fear dear fellow, but good luck with that

Frog Lizzie?

I concur, one I still regret not making back in my wartime days

(Wartime? When I used to model ww2 aircraft by choice)

:)

Seemingly, a Beaufort, I mean a 1/48 one can become a reality in a few years...

Not to mention the "Arlesienne" from Special Hobby,  But a good lidarised one in a blue grey plastic.

Deemed as a possible in a not too far future from Airfix...

Fingers crossed !!

Sincerely.

Chris

Look here at the result of what I've called a multiple extraction...

The worst has been to stay teethless for about six months waiting for the jaw to heal up...

At least that has give my friens a bit of a burst of laugh when I tried to speak...

Remember this

Gentlemen, a little more about my brilliance in fixing the turret, perhaps, and a little less about the terrifying things that are happening behind your lips, if you please.

Okay, so after much finagling and even more swearing, I came up with the following bodge:

They can pass as ammo boxes or something, but more importantly, they give the machine gun butts something to stand on:

I replied nicely to your request, it vanished then reappeared

Good save on the turret PC. It looks like the fuselage cutout is way too shallow, which is a bit annoying seeing as it's provided as a separate badly-fitting part to cater for the differences between I/IV/V.

If it's any consolation the MkIV guns are meant to hover in space too, so I used two plastic strips on the outer sides painted up to look like the ammunition feed.

Adrian

On the topic of "why didn't anyone test build this?" You might want to check that the propellers clear the fuselage when they spin. Mine are all around 1mm shorter than they started out.

Adrian

Aw jeezy creezy. Well, hopefully the Airfix props I'm using will. Off to go look.

Thank goodness for that, your persistence in the face of adversity deserved to be rewarded at last!
