oz rb fan
before we get into the whole it's not the correct model spit Iknow it is,but oddly enough it's pretty close to the real plane, it was done for my mother inlaw as her father worked on spitfires in Darwin and later PNG,from what we have been able to find out he was with 79 Sqn RAAF as a mechanic. the kit is the normal MKVb trop kit as all Tamiya kits it builds really well almost on putty and really looks the part, the decals are aeromaster ones they went one really well and i'm pretty happy with the result,it was painted with Humbrol paints. 25994844_1522864747750900_8189553409569645039_n by paul sabin, on Flickr 25994794_1522864824417559_5200626010813295984_n by paul sabin, on Flickr 26114148_1522864784417563_3624568765741060201_n by paul sabin, on Flickr 26055577_1522864804417561_3321133499018630159_n by paul sabin, on Flickr after doing some research on 79sqn aircraft i found some good news and some bad news.....the bad news, aeromaster stuffed up the serial of the real plane..it was A58-252 not A58-262 that decals claim(A58-262 was never assigned to a plane) but i'd sealed and satined the model so thats the way it's staying....... the good news,79 Sqn modified some of their plane to improve performance in PNG it included removing the outer cannon stubs.A58-252 was one of these aircraft..and according to one reseasrcher being a late delivery MKVc it also had the MKVb type narrow cannon blisters,so not perfect but my mother inlew who i gave it to today likes it,and thats what matters in my mind. the real one raafspitfirepm_2 by paul sabin, on Flickr raafspitfirepm_1 by paul sabin, on Flickr and with the MKVc that i did earlier this year....malta delivery 26114398_1522866324417409_5221065090954124764_o by paul sabin, on Flickr
Simon382
Very nice. Not overly fussed if it's not perfectly right in mark or serial number so long as the person it was made for enjoys the finished model
Vinnie
Absolutely right. If you're happy with it that's all that matters.

jckspratt1
Bugger it mate - looks near enough to me, and if you enjoyed building it and the m-in-l enjoyed receiving it, then what else matters?
