Homer
Fantastic collection of these wonderful models .I wonder if you are old enough to remember a bbc tv show of the 1970s Model World presented by the late Bob Symes I have purchased a dvd of all the episodes and there are some wonderfull conversions of these figures by some well know model builders of that era such as RoyDilly and others .One item was a brandy glass with 3 American figures from 1776 in a setting and a glass top on it it looked great . 1

Indeed I do, I think I've got them on VHS. Bob also presented model railway programmes
Sgt.Squarehead
Great stuff Richard, I really like these figures and it's nice to see them getting some TLC.....I'd love to get enough of these guys to assemble a 54mm wargaming unit for Sharp Practice.
Ratch
Cheers Andrew - but how much space would you need for wargaming in 54mm
Sgt.Squarehead
SP is a skirmish level game so you could quite easily do something on a typical gaming table.....My local gaming club once ran a 54mm WWII skirmish using Airfix Multi-Pose figures, a couple of examples of Rommel's Half-Track and a 1/32 Grant (the table was IIRC 12'x8').

Sgt.Squarehead
The WWII game was very impressive, IIRC a lot of the scenery was Airfix too.....I reckon you could do a basic 54mm Sharp Practice skirmish on a 6'x4' table, you would have to mess with the ground scale and it probably wouldn't last very long, but it would work (I highly recommend any/all of the Lardy rule sets, they are very different, but they work really well). This fine thread has reminded me of some of the lovely things that I have in my own stash (a couple of which would actually be suitable for a GB that I am currently hosting).....Hmmmm?

Ratch
I'm sure you'll enjoy the build Steve. I have one to do too
Grey Beema
I found the English Civil War Musketeer in a box of odds and ends the other day. All seems to be there too... Might knock it up one weekend though it will need work with plastic card and milliput to make it look like a Civil War Musketeer...
bootneck
Wow! Ratch, I didn't realise that Airfix had produced so many of these figures. I have about half dozen of the mounted versions, but never had the courage to attempt them because of painting the faces. Your builds have made me realise I should dig them out and have a go.

Yes you really should, and thank-you both for the feedback I should really get on myself and complete the set plus I have a few more conversions in mind
Grey Beema
I used to have the larger scale Bengal Lancer I was going to convert it to New Model Army Cavalry....
jean
Hi Ratch, just found your thread, and I think you have done a fantastic job with all these good old Airfix figures. Where are you hiding the Scots Guard in kilt? I have only ever built the French Cuirassier from the 7th Regiment, and had a blast doing that. It was years ago, but it is still one of my treasured possessions! Brilliant show! JR
