Both are lovely models, but like some others above, I really like the NMF. Not a finish you often see for Spitfires. Thanks for sharing.

David

Really beautiful. I love the NMF one especially. I assume you put a satin / dull coat of varnish on after painting? I tried tamiya chrome once and found it if anything too shiny/brilliant... but yours here looks spot on. Perfect.

Cheers!

Thanks you!

I didn’t use a dull coat varnish on the metal. I did use a matte clear for the decals so they wouldn’t be shiny. I wanted the NMF to be clean looking because they real plane was kept relatively clean. The panel wash and weathering helped keep it from being too glossy.

Also, here are the paints I used for “Teeth.”

The NATO green was added to the RAF dark green to bring out some green. The rest of the Tamiya colors took care of the RAF scheme. The RAAF colors were approximations. Gunze for foliage green and the MRP shards for the sky blue and the gray.

Thanks

Awesome builds. Even though I don't like the look of the Spitfire in natural metal, I can't stop looking at your model. Top job.

I noticed you painted the exhausts after the exterior paint was applied. What paint and colour did you use, and was it brush painted?

Thanks,
Wlad

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Like I said, these kits are so fun to build.

Lovely work, just out of interest which of the replacement cowls worked better?

Good question. IF I remember correctly, the Ultracast was my favorite due to slightly better fit and details. But both are excellent!

I masked and sprayed Tamiya flat black as a base and then applied multiple coatings of Rustall until it looked ok. I spray the Tamiya black straight through the airbrush so I get a nice flat finish so the Rustall sticks well. :)

Thanks!

Really beatifull models! Really like the cammo one. May I ask how do you paint the camouflage with that "soft" borders? I mean...if you just put masking tapes you will see a clear difference between the base color and the green but in your model this line a "soft". How do you achieve that?
