Awesome rocks, they look just like err, rocks. Some seaweed and marine life, crabs, shrimps, anemones etc. should set it all of nicely. A faded registration number and name on the hull would look good too.

1/144 scale shrimps ? Blimey :o

Can it be done ?

Longshanks will think of something, I'm just the ideas alien.

Think he is regretting this statement, "Glad to see you're getting back to your playful self, it's been way too quiet around here"?

Thanks Guys for the encouragement. (That doesn't include troublemakers)

I was thinking the same Dan

Then Martian sent me a PM offering to make the microscopic marine life, I guess it's relatively easy when you have so many hands tentacles. (and your bored and looking to make trouble)

I'm in need of some help.

I need a cunning plan to make some puddles. I'm aware of the various resin/deluxe type materials but paying upwards of £10 for what wouldn't fill a thimble has no appeal.

It can be laid in layers but must be transparent.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be welcome

I once used Humbrol clear polyurethane varnish as a substitute. It worked but took ages to dry though. Apparently some people use clear silicon sealant, though whether this would save you any money is a moot point.

The way I'll do too, transparent resin is expensive...

but you can also try cristal clear from Microscale....

Or white glue (the one used for wood) but it's more translucent than tranparent  !

sincerely.

Thank you. G & T is my preference especially if the temp is about 25' with plenty of scantily glad ladies around. Neither are likely at Telford.

I've had a thought all those redundant models from Darts & F1, could we have them draped around the stands at Telford :hypnotised:

It would seem the forum is obsessed with wild life can I suggest a Group Build for all the perverts gentlemen out there.

A.  A zoo

B.  The  Ark

C. Union St Plymouth on a Saturday night.

Hi kev sorry not been around much lately been busy at work and the sad news about Julian i seam to have lost the MOJO bit again

anyway we must go on somehow

have you tried any clear varnish as Martian says friend of mine used it to create small puddles on a 1/35 scale cobble street diorama came out quite good he just layered it about 2mm at a time and added small leaves between to give that floating wet look

I think that's the most cunning plan we are going to come up with, like the idea of being able to embed as I go ...

I glad it's not just me .It's really spooking when looking through a blog and suddenly come across Julian's eye staring out. I wonder if Mike could come up with an eye patch

Thanks again

Well Mo & Jo have not been getting along lately, really since the sad news about Julian.....

I've been doing 15/20 mins and losing interest.

I've slowly been building up to painting the two hulls.

Halfords Acrylic Primer

Jigged hulls/ marked water line.

Lower antifouling coat applied - Vallejo

Masked lower having left it to dry for 48 hours in a warm place.

Painted upper hull. Left 10 mins a masking tape removed

Masking tape was Tamiya 'de stickied ' stuck on cutting mat to slice down to 2/3mm thick

You just know where this is going don't you .........

Four strips of tape removed, three strips of paint removed  down to primer :swear: :swear: :poop::rage::jump_fire: etc etc you get the picture

Mo & Jo have left the build slamming the door behind them

Do you think that the paints might have had a reaction to the resin used to make the hulls  :book:

Sorry for the lateness Kev. Sailing things are not my usual forte but I thought I might pick some hints up.

I must say, their are some serious skills going on here, working with fibreglass to create your hulls . Question for a future build, What do you use to cement plastic to fibreglass..CA?

Where did you get those pins used in post #85 as they look very useful for mushroom vents?

Brilliant paintwork on the rocks, very realistic . As for puddles, what about acrylic water, that's what I plan on using with my ASR launch build?

All-in-all, an excellent WiP to date and I'm sure it'll continue :goodjob:.

Well the rumours of my demise were unfounded and to prove it some pics.

I have been working on all sorts of details getting them just how I want them. I wont bore you with the details, suffice to say many attempts at sails, blocks and tackle etc.

Still very much a work in progress

Excellent! Some kids and a dog playing on or around the wreck would set it of a treat.

PS: Good to have my sparring partner back!
