Mike Starmer
Does anyone know of a 1/72 scale Bf 109E kit that has the E-1 canopy type please? I've searched the usual review sites and drawn a blank. I was advised that the Academy kit had, it doesn't.
Max Headroom
I think the old Heller one might - not sure where you’d get one now though. Trevor Edit Here is a build here on Britmodeller
stevehnz
Mike, the ICM bf 109E kits have an option for the early canopy, I used one to build a E-1 a couple of years ago, for some reason it comes in three pieces which took some fiddling to get looking OK but I was happy enough with it in the end. Chuck1945
So does the Tamiya E-3 kit. I built one as a SCW E-1 several years ago
stevehnz
The ICM kit is reputed to be a close copy of the Tamiya kit, it probably doesn't go together as well but has the short fuselage of the Tamiya kit corrected. Steve.
Mike Starmer
Many thanks, looks like a search through the second-hand stalls then Tamiya is the one to go for.

Steve. A few years ago I was building both a Tamiya and an ICM Emil. The Tamiya parts fit the ICM kit better than the ICM parts! For Mike, Tamiya has done their Emil as both an E-3 and an E-4/7. The E-4/7 version has the later E-4 style canopy
