Stathis
My entry will be with the Su-33 from Kinetic in 1/48. I had some troubles with the nose cone so I glued it in slighthly open position and filled the gap with superglue. https://www.flickr.com/photos/157094455@N07/38663770522/in/album-72157690210978755/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/157094455@N07/38663771702/in/album-72157690210978755/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/157094455@N07/24823378318/in/album-72157690210978755/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/157094455@N07/38663772662/in/album-72157690210978755/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/157094455@N07/38696581611/in/album-72157690210978755/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/157094455@N07/24823482698/in/album-72157690210978755/ The paint scheme is challenging. I have bought masks from J's work. When I finish the painting I will upload more photos and tell you what I encountered. I have to read the rules of how to upload direct photos and not links. Stathis
OK, so, I tried to eliminate the moulding line from the canopy. It is better than it looks.

Sanjuro
I really like to see this build. But could you alter those first links you've posted so we can see the pictures without having an flickr-account?

I created a new account to a site to post the direct links.
Sanjuro
OK, thank you. Maybe this picture is helpful for detailing the engine nozzles of your model. https://russianplanes.net/id194608

Maybe this picture is helpful for detailing the engine nozzles of your model. https://russianplanes.net/id194608 WOW! That's difficult for me... The paint scheme was really challenging, even using the masks from J's work. All three colours are from AKAN. I don't like them, because the model needs to be primed first. By putting the kit onto the table, there were tiny scratches, which had to be eliminated. And there were a lot of them... I got a little frustrated and let the model as it is. It has a long way to go and I have to rush a little to catch the deadline. I had already painted the engine area with Alclad Aluminium so I msked it before painting the scheme. Also, I must say that I used Levelling thinner and retarder in order to paint with AKAN paints.
Stathis
What colour should I use for wash on that scheme?
Stathis
AKAN paints are a terrible pain, because the model needs to be primed before. I never use primer and with the slightest hit of my fingernails or anything alse, scratches appear everywhere... I got frustrated and sad so... I will just finish it, without taking too much consideration. I used masking tape and masking fluid were needed for the white. I will do the touch ups later with a fine brush. The overspray made me sad, because I thought that everything went well but didn't take care about that...
Blue_Centurion
The trick with those Akan water based acrylics is to handle with care and seal them with a clear as soon as possible. Once sealed they will not scratch or chip. I know it is a pain, but this is the only method I have found to keep my sanity. It's too bad the water based Akan are like this and it is why I switched to Mr. Paint Lacquer.

I wanted to use them just for once to see how they are, but I regret it. Gunze are the best for me.

I will only use those from that manufacturer.

I used Flory Models gray wash. I liked it a lot and I think it's the brand that I will go on with. Don't follow Kinetic's instructions about the positioning of the stars under the wings. The position is wrong. Consult a photo of the real plane.

Stathis
The Su-33 was finally finished on the 10th of January. I repainted the exhaust and used some black pastel on the feathers. The kit has some serious issues at the wing folding mechanism. Care should be taken as some parts don't fit well into the wing's holes.
