spiton
Your Beau looks very realistic. Only the rockets are no straight.
bruce bay
Really love this build. Remember the kit being a real dream to put together - and seeing it look this good is making me want to have another go at it. Loving the wear and tear.

Crimea River
Thanks very much everyone. The Tamiya Beaufighter is indeed a great kit and everything fits like a glove. I didn't use any filler on this one. 15 hours ago, spiton said: Your Beau looks very realistic. Only the rockets are no straight. That's intentional. The rockets firing angles were varied to increase the chance of below waterline hits.

Buzby061
Great work. How did you replicate the cables & plugs for the rockets? Pete Edited November 28, 2017 by Buzby061 Sausage fingers

Pete Thanks again gents. Pete, the cables are 0.2 mm lead wire. For the plugs, I sliced small discs off of a piece of 0.5 mm dia. rod and CA glued them on the end of the wires, making sure to build up the CA so that it made a cone shape over the discs.

Crimea River
Thanks Pete. If I had a proper punch set I would have cut the discs using that. The way I did it makes them look a bit inconsistent as the thicknesses varied. Andy

Crimea River
Yeah that's what put me off buying one. I saw something on the net years ago where a guy built his own using an inexpensive drill index and a block of clear acrylic. Some day I will get around to that. mike romeo
I love what you've done with that! It looks most realistic. If you wished a piece of constructive criticism, I'm wondering whether the line around the circumference of the tyre on the centre plane of the wheel is tread or a seam line. David H
Crimea River?? Wasn't that a song by Julie London? Very nice looking Beaufighter; hear nothing but good things about that kit. -d-
