Tornado IDS MFG1 - Revell

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Here's my latest: Revell 1/48 Tornado with HaHen decals for a MFG1 bird.

It's straight from the box, with Mr Paint paints and Pebeo acrylic matt varnish.

Very very nice,

I am bottling out of making mine too grubby when I get round to it as I would struggle to make the finish look as good as this.

Thank you for your comment.

I used the black basing technique described by Doogs Models (warning: some language may be heard, I don't remember if Matt was SFW on this video) :

It's quite easy, in fact.

Then, some black (heavily thinned) airbrushed here and there, a wash and Bob's your uncle.

Try it, you'll see.

Cheers,

S.

Hello Sebastien,

Excellent job on this model. Especially the weathering.

Shame that the Navy has no fighters anymore.

Regards, Orion / The Netherlands.

I intend to do every paint scheme (bar the commemorative paint schemes I can't stand, sorry) ever worn by a Tornado.

But as you say, this one is quite lovely.

Thanks,

A fine aim! I fear I may end up going in the same direction, although the project might outlive me, given the amount of faffing about I do with other aircraft. I initially thought I'd do a circa-'86 GR1 and a 1435 Flight F3 and stop there, but then I got a Gulf War-era Buccaneer and, well, you know what that'll need to keep it company, and then what about the German ones, and the BAE one, and it'd be silly not to have a GR4 in there somewhere, and then why miss out the Italians, and....

So far, I have a Gulf War Italian one, a green and gray GR1 and that one.

A Granby desert pink Tornado is in the works, and I don't know yet what to put on the F3 presently on the paint table.

Cheers,

S.
