Question: were these aircrafts in natural metal ? I seem to remember that Spanish machines only had the rear fuselage left unpainted (with all those nice variations in the exhaust area) while the rest of the fuselage was light grey...

As you say Giorgio! ADC grey....

Wing tops were white though.

There was only one 2-seater (out of 3) that was natural metal all over.

It depends on the period in question, Giorgio. They all started out natural metal and progressed to grey later on.

Hi Martin,

thanks for your input!

as far as I understand, Spanish single seaters were produced by Canadair, and delivered to the USAF which delivered them to Spain

I'd assume there were always painted the same grey, and never natural metal! (apart form the last  twoseater)

if you want more details:

update:

and my first take on bombing up a Starfighter ;)

20180102_230347_1

Hasegawa Mk-83 that I am modifying as far as possible to represent a test Expal Br-500 series.

test fitted on the Daco supplied pylon :)

so,

back on topic,

fighting a bit with the nose cone, I think I got th perfect off white, but had very visible gaps at the joint...

so back again!

first metallic grey applied on tail, of 3 I think

Expal bombs (or Mk.83 if you like) painted in an orange red,

missing is a broad white stripe.

Thanks,

Werner

Starfighter is fighting a bit.... de-masking peeled of some paint... especially around the intakes... :(

nose (anti glare panel ) and windscreen masking and painting went well on the other hand!

decal time!!

20171112_221448_1

Series Espanolas provide a very very comprehensive deals sheet for every possible Starfighter at every? possible time fame

I went for a realtively late one form around 1968 of 104 squadron with late but not latest ;)  numbering style

20171112_221514_1

decals went on flawlessly, but quite a lot of stencils to apply! but that is what actually makes this scheme so fantastic!

20180120_233101_120180120_233054_1

and close to the end of the late night session:

20180121_014609_120180121_014626_1

cheers,
