Steve_farrier
Little bit more done today whilst the mrs is setting up the Christmas tree... might have over ordered on the tree... I've already cut nearly 1 ft off it!!! Not sure we can afford presents now 😂😂  anyway... fully working barrel tavel clamp thingy...  and.... a little more of my usual  Even with a big resistor it's too bright! I found some incredibly small LEDS  SMD 0805 s  approx 1mmX1.5MM lights! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F253227830215

And at best the barrel bore is 3.5mm... 😢  Carpet monster just claimed anotger piece of photoetch... 😡 I blame the BBC!.... I've got the IPlayer on next to me and listening to comedy 🙄 Laughing doesn't help with these ridiculously small fiddly jobs!

Steve_farrier
Hey guys.  Having been more strapped for time or time than usual ... and my Fuherbunker being overtaken with Christmas gifts for everyone else... I've had no ability to do anything. However tonight I managed to get my daughter to bed early and crack on.   tracks being set pieces should still be easy to fit in under the skirts.  Still lots more little details to go. Hopefully get some more done this weekend :-) cheers

Steve_farrier
Tracks on today, roughed up the skirts too, this week she will get some primer . The top is unglued ATM so as I can spray up some interior stuff. Not going mental on this because she is empty, however I have edit the rear doors open a crack just to add something.  since posting this  I've used some filler on the front glacis plate        The spare track links are not set, but only put here for photos ATM, have also straightened out the squashed "umbrella"    PLEASE AT THIS POINT POINT OUT ANY SHORTFALLS I CAN FIX BEFORE PAINT😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀  Thank you all
Steve_farrier
More done this weekend. started off with some 3 tone camouflage followed by a coat of hairspray and then the scary bit,.... a winter whitewash     At this stage I always get a littler nervous ... where's my 3 tone gone?! God those splatters look awful...  then i I started with the white spirit... ( the white was enamel based paint whereas the 3 tone is acrylic)      Gradually I'll smooth out some of the rough areas of paint with more thinners. Then start with some oils. However so far I'm pretty pleased with this stage of the effects.    Edited January 28, 2018 by Steve_farrier Replaced the bottom image that was duplicated
BlackMax12
Looking great Steve. It's sure been to the wars, of course those side skirts were just sheet metal but they sure look good.  The winter camo is a bit of extra work but it sure looks good, I'm tempted to re-paint all of my German WWII stuff in whitewash.  Take care,  Lloyd
Steve_farrier
From what I’d seen Lloyd no matter what vehicle the skirts were on they always took a bashing. I’m not sure how exact the damage I’ve created would have been as I think the skirts on these were 1/2 inch thick? Never seen a set sitting straight and true either except from factory.  I enjoy whitewash but you do loose so much detail n artistry of the camouflage :-/
BlackMax12
I really liked the 3 color camo before the whitewash too. How did you get it so faded looking as I always seem to end up with the 3 colors having too much contrast or too bright and have a time trying to fade it. That's why I've used whitewash a few times, it covers up lots.  Lloyd
