A kiwi Spitfire ! Spitfire Mk XVI

Recommended Posts

Hello Dears,

Seemingly, BM is on trouble since That's very difficult to do anything because the slowness of the response !

Whatever, I will try to show you my last Spitification !

The Kit is an old ICM bought in second hand, without decals (Wich I don't care in fact)

WP_20171102_10_18_05_Pro

Once again, there has been a reaction with the Tamiya flat varnish, I finish the can and try another brand.

She was flown by W.O M.J.C. Lind from Fassberg in Germany

It was the 485 (NZ) Sqdn in July and August 1945, as peace is back, planes are a bit more steadily maintained and repainted.

So I kept the weathering at a minimum !

WP_20171102_10_18_18_Pro

The kit was not too easy, as usual, sink mark and adjustments very approximative at least !

There's a lot of overtree parts from my numerous Eduard Spitfire, as wheels, bomb rack and so on ;

The propeller is a Bren Gun one, the windscreen is an overtree from Tamiya.

The decals are Lifelike decals # 48-007 But the colors were wrong, so I used only a part of the sheet.

WP_20171102_10_18_35_Pro

Moreover, the decals are fragile, I tried the first one as usual, Micro set first, the the decals and Yohooo, the decal shrink and get impossible to set !

So I found that no microset but a thin coat of microsol after the decal has settle right in place was good !

To be continued ...

Here's the WiP, but there's a lot of Spitfire in it :coolio::huh:

Now the undersides of the dame...:coolio:

WP_20171102_10_19_17_Pro

As usual, I used the Xtracrylics paint ! Already glossy, so I save a coat of varnish !

If there's some New zealander who came in here, I'll be glad to know what is Rongotea mean, is this a name, or a place or Something ??

The 2 ICM Spitfire now ??

WP_20171102_10_20_24_Pro

The shorter wings beside the longest ones

The next (s) ICM will be Mk IX

WP_20171102_10_20_36_Pro

.

I will start a kind of Spitfire SIG by myself:P:P

Rongotea is a small township on the north island of NZ just outside of Palmeston North. Don't remember stopping there on me travels, bit it's a wonderful part of the country.

Think it means Peaceful Place.

Sorry, forgot to say, brilliant gaggle of Spitfires! Great work!

Lovely builds there CC. I'm afraid my latest ICM MK IX has just been consigned to the shelf of doom. I just couldn't get the engine and firewall seated correctly. I might get it down again in the long winter evenings.

Hello Vinnie,

Forget  the engine, or prepare yourself for.... Putting the Mk IX in the shelf of doom again

I Blank off the exhaust stacks, be carefull to let an calculated deepness for the exhaust.

Now You can use a very simplified version of the engine, I mean, the block and cylinder head . Period !

I will let a Mk IX with the open cowling so this one will receive its engine, but I'm a kind of a masochist

Thanks for the kind words !

Sincerely.
