TBC
Has anyone here picked up the latest (Dec 2017) issue of Flypast? At the bottom of page 98 resides a photo of a 404 Sqd RCAF Mosquito F.B.VI only identified as Mosquito FB.VI RF348 of 404 Squadron. To my knowledge there were no Mk.VI's in the RF range with this low a number. I am pretty sure this is a known photo of EO-Z RF882 in night fighter scheme. Thoughts? Junchan
RF348 was alotted to a Lincoln B. II, not to a Mosquito. As far as I know, the No. 404 squadron used the following Mosquito FB.VIs, RF777 (EO-L), RF838 (EO-A), RF842 (EO-C), RF844 (EO-D), RF851 (EO-H), RF852 (EO-E), RF853 (EO-N), RF857 (EO-Q), RF875 (EO-R), RF880 (EO-X) and RF882 (EO-Z), but RF882 was painted in Special Coastal Duties Scheme A of Extra Dark Sea Grey and Sky. Therefore the photo in the Dec. issue of Flypast could be RF844, RF852 or RF857. John M
A slightly blurred photo taken at the same time shows the codes to be EO*G and serial RF848. Cheers, John
