Spad
OK, this one is for the Ferrari or classic Le Mans fans out there. I am trying to complete a build of the 250 Testarossa Lucybelle II that ran at the 1958 Le Mans - you know, the one with white paintwork and blue racing stripes. All the period shots of her seem to indicate a pale coloured tonneau cover as opposed to the more regular black - anybody know what colour it was? Pale grey, linen? Here's hoping that font of knowledge that is BM can ride to my rescue! Thanks in anticipation! ATB Rick

Jo NZ
I've had a look through my reasonably extensive Le Mans library. In any B & W photos it looks body colour (i.e. white), and in the few colour pictures it's too far away to tell if it's a different shade to the body. I'd go for white vinyl or canvas. I can tell you that Ed Hugus wore a french blue helmet and a red top (overalls?) at the start - there's a colour picture in Automobile Year for 1958. Spad
Thanks guys, that's brilliant! Love that colour shot - not seen any colour from in-period before! White canvas it is then. ATB Rick
