grahamwalker
What were the differances between the two arresterhooks, I know the Mk2 had a recess in the rear fuselarge?
Garry c
In the book Gloster Gladiator in action from squadron/signal publications, it states that the first 38 production Sea Gladiators were converted Mk IIs. This first batch did not have catapult points nor the dinghy pack, the teardrop shaped faring beneath the fuselage. A second and final order for 60 more aircraft were produced, these had the catapult points(spools?) and the dinghy pack. The prototype was a Mk I (K6129), this book has no mention of any changes between the prototype hook and the production hook. Other changes for the Sea Gladiator; Airspeed Indicator in Knots instead of miles, naval TR.9 radio, and a revised 3 bladed Fariey-Reed propeller optimized for takeoff. Hope this helps, Garry c
grahamwalker
thanks for the info have found basic plan for a mk2 hook but not mk1:(
ClaudioN
Pics of Sea Gladiator hook recess here. See post #8 All Sea Gladiators were, technically, Mk. II but the Sea Gladiator had no mark number. The hook was apparently the same for all aircraft, just no recess and completely external on Sea Gladiator (Interim).
