Royal Navy SSN Submarine Conversion?

Courageous

Recommended Posts

After serving in RN subs on and off for 9 years, first serving on HMS Courageous, a brief period on Conqueror and lastly on Renown, I thought it was remiss of me not to have better collection of subs. I have some of these subs already in 1/700 scale by OKB but they're just too small and with little else on the market, I drifted to the 'dark-side' of aircraft.

I have recently read threads about converting the 1/350 Trafalgar Class to the Swiftsure Class and was wondering if the same donor kit can be used to get a Valiant Class, Dreadnought or is it a none starter?

Conversion to Swiftsure possible, Sail on S & T class very similar, and you could get away modify hull. Dreadnought and Valiant non-starter, completely different hull shape/length and Sail

A Valiant class conversion is possible using mikromir's resolution class, as it was basically a modified valiant with a missile compartment, the sail will need attention.

HMS Dreadnought is a non starter as stated.

FWIW... I have converted Airfix's HMS Trafalgar into HMS Splendid - shortening the hull by 7mm.....

I then did HMS Spartan - same hull shortening, but with a Dry Deck Shelter added....

HMS Valiant is planned for a future 'conversion' - using MikoMir's HMS Resolution - as outlined by Chris above....

Thanks guys, all very useful stuff and I'll look into the threads.

So, to recap. Resolution was based on the Valiant class, was it the case of just adding a missile compartment and a sail modification? Sounds simple enough:shrug:

In 1/350;

Vanguard Class- Bronco

Resolution Class- MikroMir

Trafalgar Class- Aifix

Swiftsure Class- Modified Trafalgar Class

Valiant Class- Modified Resolution Class?

Dreadnought Class- God knows.

Upholder Class- Modified Hobbyboss Type 212

And back we go...

@Flankerman, love your submarine work.
