MickE
Hi all Here is my latest creation. It is Italeri's 1/48 MV-22 Osprey in the colours of HMX-1 operating as an escort to the US President when travelling in Marine 1. I have added extra antennas and dropped the flaps as every picture of Ospreys has the flaps dropped. Regards Mick
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Excellent looking Osprey 👍 ... I need a couple of these in my stash. I've found some interesting schemes i want to do, including this one.
MickE
Thanks. If you need any tips for building them let me know. The kit is a bit of an awkward bugger and needs reinforcement of the fuselage and wing joints. Regards Mick

Simon382
Great looking Osprey. I was lucky enough to see one in the flesh when the presedential flight flew over Duxford. They do look mighty impressive
Blackfordhibby
Excellent finish, and a scheme that I have never seen before.
MickE
Thanks all for the great comments. I was inspired for the build when Obama dropped in to Boscombe Down one day back in 2014. He was on his way back after a conference in Wales so that he could visit Stonehenge as it was on his 'Bucket List' Unfortunately I had gone home when he turned up but he apparently caused big hold ups on the roads due to his entourage. F-32
Very nice indeed, I saw a couple parked up at San Francisco International, they certainly look the part!
MickE
Thanks F-32. You lucky devil, I would love to see one 'in the flesh'. Mick
TonyW
I'm a couple of miles from Lakenheath and Mildenhall. The usual racket above the house is the Lakenheath F15's roaring about, but on occasion an Osprey will trundle over. They look like something out of a Dan Dare comic. The props look colossal as they fly past. Tony.

I got in to Quantico MCAS in1981 and at that time they had the VH-53s and VH-46s. It was amazing that my mate and I could simply park outside hangars and walk inside without being challenged! I'm sure it doesn't happen now! Martin

Romeo Alpha Yankee
That looks great Mick, I am wondering what green you used for your model, I have this one to do in 1/72.
MickE
Hi Romeo thanks for the comment. I had to mix it up - I was hard to get the shade as all the pictures of the aircraft show different shades and it took me four attempts to get that colour. I seem to remember that I started with an Olive Green, Humbrol's I think and then tried adding blues and then some yellow til I was happy with the colour. FIGHTS ON
lovely build - and maybe prompting me to carry on with my one - I don't like the "hump" on top the wing join to the fuselage and filler & sanding is making mine look worse. But it's the only 1/48 in town. yours is a very impressive build and good choice in colour scheme... a link to the walk around (kindly uploaded by Julian) from the MV-22s I saw earlier this year:
MickE
Thanks Fights On. That hump is a right pain to get rid of. I filled the inside first with milliput, dremilled it down and finished off with sanding, lots of sanding! I kept re-priming after each sanding session. Also the small round window on the access door needs to be changed to a rectangular one and extra antennas added. Mick
