Arab Conversion - Wingnut Wings Bristol Fighter

Recommended Posts

Finished at last! My Wingnut Wings 1/32 Bristol F.2b Fighter, converted into a Sunbeam Arab-engined version and painted in the colours of 37 Training Depot Station, RAF Yatesbury December 1918. Build progress in the WIP section.

162

The model is a combination of the WNW kit, with various scratch-built bits to turn it from a graceful V12 Falcon-engined machine into a pug-nosed V8 Arab boneshaker.

Just nosing around and couldn't help but see your spectacular build on this aircraft,I built one many years ago a 1/72 similar, but not to your standard, just had to say what a Fab build hope you don't mind. The prop and under rigging look like real wood?Cheers

It's smoke and mirrors! Just plastic, a bit of undercoat and oil paint. I knew roughly how to do it, but it's my first attempt on a model.

When the smoke clears from the mirrors still going to be a very fine build and for your first one Wow.Thanks

A truly stunning example of modelling, from conversion work to finial finish.  The wood affect of the struts and prop is some of the best I've ever seen.  Really convincing.  Congratulations on an exceptional build.

I get all excited whenever I see a Wingnut Wings thread. Then I look at the pictures am and always awestruck.

This is a fantastic looking build. I echo the previous comments about the wood effect. Congratulations on a great build.

All the best, Martin

Superb model! and the build was very impressive as well

Glad you liked it: I will be doing more WNW kits for sure (they're the best plastic you can get after all), but need something esoteric and OOB next time. The Stahltaube seems to fit that brief.

Absolutely sublime, juts perfect modelling!

The WIP has been great to follow, I take my hat off you for being brave enough to modify a Wingnut Wings kit, and then totally ace it.

Cheers
