This will be my entry into this Group Build

Our 1948 MGTC has been a member of our family long before I was born, being my parents first car. It's been off the road since 1969 but hopefully later this year will be back to full health.

The picture below is yours truly next to the car when I was about 18 months old

I hope to build this kit to look as simular to our TC as I can and dedicate this build to my dad who I lost a few years ago and who fortunately kept the car to allow me to have it after all these years

Good luck to everyone in this GB

Cheers Pat

I just found this Pat.

A superb story and very fitting tribute build to your dad.

I’ve always had a soft spot for the TC; those are my real initials too :).

Good luck with the build, I’m looking forward to it.

Best regards

TonyT

Apologies for the rather late start to this GB, too many kits on the go at once :frantic:

First impressions are very good but they have gone bit made on the number of chrome parts !

They have chromed the wire wheels and the whole exhaust including the manifold, neither of which were but not the eared knockoff's to hold the wheels on which were !

Can you paint over this chrome finish, or will I have to remove it ?

cheers Pat

Drop the chromed parts into a container of household bleach. It removes vac plating a treat. The plating can be quite thick. Removing it leaves you with a thinner part, ideal for wire wheels.

Great thanks Tony

Pity I can't transfer it across to the knockoff / spinners !

cheers Pat

Ah, not a problem.

Chrome can be replaced or added with an incredible bit of kit, known as a .Molotow Liquid Chrome pen. Chrome ink would you believe! I use 1mm and 2mm tip pens and the stuff is amazing. keep a wet edge and it goes on smoothly and very, very bright.

Tony.
