PlaStix
Dragon M4A1(76)W VVSS 2nd Armoured Regiment - Polish 1st Armoured Division - Holland 1944 This was my entry in the Radial Engines Rock GB. It followed hot on the heels of my Toon Sherman in the Blitzbuild GB It was actually a really enjoyable build and I reckon the details are really nice for this scale. The M4 Sherman was the most numerous medium tank used by the United States and some of the other Western Allies in World War II. It was found to be generally reliable, relatively cheap to produce and available in great numbers. Thousands were distributed through the Lend-Lease program to the British Commonwealth and Soviet Union. It was named after the American Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman. The M4A1(76)W VVSS Sherman was fitted with the Continental Wright R975 Whirlwind 9 cylinder radial gasoline engine. The WIP can be found here. Some on my Spitfire display shelf with grass matting: Finally I made a bit of a display base using a small picture frame from Wilkos as a starting point: And then, surprise, surprise - I took some more photos of it on this base: And did I mention that the model is quite small? It's the 1/72nd Dragon Kit: And finally - one with the Toon Sherman: Thank you to the host of the GB and everyone who took the time to comment in my thread. As usual I will post some black and white images when I get chance. Comments and suggestions welcome. Kind regards, Stix Edited October 2, 2017 by PlaStix

keefr22
Excellent build again Stix, really nicely painted & weathered as usual! Good surprise at the end too - I'd assumed I was looking at a very neatly done Dragon 1/35th jobbie...!! Cracking braille scale Sherman! Etienne
I only realized at the very end that it was a 1/72nd scale model ... very nice job indeed !! E
FrancisGL
I don't believe...1/72nd scale???, it looks almost 1/48 or even 1/35 scale. Serial numbers on the top of the turret is a amazing detail, I have a 1/35 kit that does not have it ... Very nice pics compositions. Nice in all aspects , cheers Stix

Keith Hi Keith and thank you very much for your very kind comments. I must admit I was quite surprised how it looked like it was a bigger scale in the photos. I think a lot is down to the very fine detailing from Dragon. They did do a really nice job. I'm hoping their Pz.III Ausf.L with Winterketten is equally nicely detailed as I'm building one at the moment......it's my first Dragon 1/35 kit! Kris B
Good job with this. I wasn't sure on the beginning what scale it was. That means you did it right.
Buzby061
Lovely work, I don't think my peepers would be up to that level of detail in 1/72. Pete
BlackMax12
Geez, even with my optivisor I still couldn't work on this. I too thought it was at least 1/48 as some of your later efforts were that scale but once again you amaze me. Wonderful, I really like the low angle shot on the little display base with the gun pointing off to about 10 c'clock. Lloyd

Dragon really did do a nice job with this kit - if you enjoy building tanks in this scale I can certainly recommend it. Thank you for your kind comments Francis. BerndM
Excellent result and well presented. It is also a great kit, i have done mine for the Achtung Panzer Gb in 2015, since that the DS tracks have started to disintergrate, hope yours will stay longer on.

Lloyd As I said to Pete, above, some bits of the 1/35 Dragon kit I'm currently building seems to have far smaller parts than this 1/72 kit. Thank you four your comments Lloyd.
