PK-80 Sd.Kfz. 173 Jagdpanther in 1:76.

Abandoned due to lack of fuel by an s.Pz.Jg.Abt "Unbekannte" in Irgendwo, Germany, early days of May 1945.

Almost OOB build and what a joy this was :thumbsup:.

Brush painted with Tamiya and Vallejo acrylic paints.

Thanks to Arniec and Enzo Matrix for the show!

Hiya Folks,

              Here is the Matchbox Wellington, built as a B.Mk.X of 425 (Allouette) Sqn, RCAF when it was based in Tunisia during 1943. The model was brush painted and the kit was modified,...... new nose and tail turrets were added from the spares box, the nose from an old Airfix Wimpey kit and the tail from an old Airfix Lancaster, the fabric effect around the rear of the nose turret was also added using masking tape and white glue. As the kit interior is practically non existent and incorrect, I used the interior from an old Matchbox Halifax. The wheels also came from a Trumpeter Wellington kit and the cockpit canopy was sanded to reprofile it. Here is the WIP;

And here is the model,...sorry but I`ve edited this post slightly as I`ve done a bit more work on it;

Finished!  The Matchbox Boeing P12E in the livery of the 18th PG, Wheeler Field, Hawaii...

A fun build as all matchbox kits are.  Simple enough for a child to do yet enough in there for anyone to fiddle about with scratch building, new decals, rigging, etc...

Paints were rattle cans (Humbrol Light Olive, Humbrol Trainer Yellow) and some Vallejo for the little things (tires, prop). A bit of oil pinwash on the prop and some detail on the wings.  Rigged with .005 stainless for the main rigging and EZLine for the tail.  Apologies for the Soviet airstrip...I was fresh out of palm trees and volcanoes...^_^

here is my Wellington GR.Mk.XIV from what I believe to be 78 OTU, Ein Shemer, Palestine, during the late war period. It was brush painted using a mixture of enamels and acrylics, the tail turret was cobbled together from some Airfix Lancaster parts and items from the spares box, the wheels and propellers are from a Trumpeter Wellington and the nose glazing had the panel lines sanded off and it was then re polished. The cockpit interior also came from an old Matchbox Halifax kit,....here is the WIP which includes a photo of the real aircraft;

,...And here is the model;

DSCF1682DSCF1680DSCF1667DSCF1669DSCF1673

The Coastal Command style white and Extra Dark Sea Grey colour scheme was modified by overpainting the white with black,..... but the white paint could be seen around the engine panels and cooling gills where the black chipped away, as can be seen on the real aircraft pictured in the WIP,

Cheers

My PK74, Panzer III Ausf L is as done as it's going to be. An easy, fun build. I can see a few more of these kits on my workbench in the future.

Pictures have been through Photoshop. They have been cropped , sharpened and had a frame put around them.

The top two shots were taken in early morning sunlight on a black perspex sheet outside in my garden. The last three shots were taken in the same setting this afternoon. The light was a bit cooler by then.

Hiya Folks,

              Here is my conversion of the Matchbox Curtiss Helldiver into the land based Shrike, ordered by the USAAF and also by the RAAF in whose markings it can be seen here. Although the Australian`s were already using Vengeance dive bombers in New Guinea to great effect in support of the Army who were really pleased with their accuracy, the RAAF came under the operational control of the USAAF in the South Pacific and  General Kenney,.the American General in charge of air operations, took it upon himself to declare dive bombers as being ineffective and that their use would be immediately curtailed within this theatre, this despite the effectiveness already being demonstrated by the Aussie dive bombers and also those used by the US Navy in the Central Pacific!  Thus the Vengeance units were withdrawn to Australia and most converted onto larger Liberator`s, much to the Army`s chagrin and the large order for 140 Curtiss Shrikes made by Australia was cancelled after only ten had been delivered. Those still in the USA and still on the production line were diverted to the US Marine Corps and the aircraft modelled here was one of those, it was photographed flying over Ohio in 1943 still wearing Australian markings.

The model was liberally covered with filler to fill in the Matchbox trench lines and wing fold and as well as removing the hook, a larger .5in Browning was fitted into the rear cockpit, which also required a hole drilling in the canopy roof. Exhaust`s were added using sections of wooden tooth pick, replacement wheels from the spares box were used and the one piece undercarriage legs were cut down, as seen on many Shrikes. Tamiya JLSDF Olive Drab and Aeroclub Neutral Grey were applied by brush for the finish.  Here is the WIP;

Hiya Folks,

               Having already built one Wellesley, here is another wearing more standard camouflage, in the markings worn by 47 Sqn in East Africa during 1941. Built straight from the box and using decals from the Valom kit, the model was brush painted using Aeromaster, Polyscale and Humbrol acrylics,....here is the WIP;

Hello Folks,

                Here is another completed model,.....the Matchbox Halifax built as a Mk.I used by 138 (Special Duties) Sqn at Stradishall and later Tempsford for agent and supply dropping in support of SOE. This model represents L9613 which had dropped the brave Czech agents into Czechoslovakia on the night of 28th November 1941 who were responsible for killing Reich Commisar Reinhard Heydrich, and who were tragically betrayed by one of their own to the German`s, resulting in an infamous final shoot out in the Karel Boroejsky Church in Prague.

The model has Aeroclub white metal propellers and has been heavily `modified' using spare parts from the Revell kit, such as the nose turret, undercarriage legs, exhausts, parachute exit and the engine nacelles were also cut up and made more accurate using parts left over from the Revell kit too.

It was brush painted using Polly Scale and Humbrol acrylics and the decals came from AML,..... although the codes had to be altered and the grey codes on the right side were modified Xtradecal ones.

Here is the WIP;

And here is the model,....with early markings on one side and later markings on the other;

late 1942-43;

1941- early 1942;

So that is it,.....hope you like it!

Cheers
