Julien
A couple of questions for a 1.72 build, Can I use a P-51D canopy to replace a bad vacform? Are there any decals out there? Thx JUlien
Ngr172
IIRC the actual bubble is the same but the frame and windscreen are quite different. I think the High Planes kit comes with a spare. I have never seen aftermarket decals.
Adam Maas
The RSModels kit comes with a pretty extensive selection of schemes. You may be able to source some decals from someone who has built that kit.
72modeler
According to the P-51 Special Interest website and another Mustang website, it appears that the canopy on the P-51H was not the same profile as any of the three P-51D canopy types. The P-82 Twin Mustang and the P-51H did use the same canopy, however. I would suggest trying to find a vacform P-82 canopy; I seem to recall Squadron Mail Order had canopies for the P-82, so you might try to get a set from them or one of the auction websites. If you look at photos of the D and the H, you can see the difference in the contours of the two canopies, especially at the front. Mike
k5054nz
I suggest contacting High Planes - I've bought canopies and decals from them before and, if it's in stock, they are very accommodating and reasonable with "spares" pricing even when I mention the items are for other manufacturers' kits.
