Hello Dears,

I think that the cutting edge is nearly good !

WP_20171014_20_44_21_Pro

But the trailing edge need some trimming again

WP_20171014_20_44_55_Pro

I will work on the Wheel wells, but I'm wondering

How should I cut this part of the wing marked with the crosses.

WP_20171014_20_45_40_Pro

Thank for the support.

Sincerely.

- Well - If I had this problem to resolve and if my interpretation ot the photo is right, I'll  file and sand progressively this part from the inside to have the sharpest trailing edge as possible, during the process , keep an eye on the the thickness of the rest of the trailing ege of the parts already glued. to have a continuous thickness all along the wing..

- Sorry , I just have another look to your photo and iit seems it's not the trailing I thought at first but the leading edge, this part fit under the fuselage so no problem just cut it  simply , once in place under the fuselage a possible use of some putty may occur

Re: Trailing edges. What I have done in the past to refine blunt trailing edges of vacforms is this: First of all, remove as much material as possible from the inner side of the trailing edge while taking care not to remove so much that you destroy the overall dimensions and shape of the part. Then glue the wing halves together with liquid cement and make sure the trailing edges are thoroughly cemented together along the entire length with no gaps. When plastic cement is completely cured, flood interior of trailing edge with thin CA; this can be done through the wing root or through a series of small holes bored in the undersurface of the wing. Hold wing level so that CA is evenly distributed along trailing edge interior and give it a spray of accelerator. Be careful to avoid fumes! When CA has cured, refine trailing edge exterior with sanding block and rescribe any detail lost in sanding.

I have used this technique to create razor-sharp trailing edges on vacform models. The cured CA strengthens the trailing edge and provides a rigid base for sanding and further refinement. A thin. pourable epoxy resin can also be used if you are allergic to/averse to using CA. CA, however, cures much faster, especially when accelerator is used.

Hello Dears,

I now can work more easily !

Since I bought some items in Telford !

WP_20171204_09_13_13_Pro

To me the most important is the book !

But the engine will be a great improvement...

WP_20171204_09_13_33_Pro

The détails of the resin engine is miles away from the white metal one.

Just have to think of weight in the Fireball's nose

WP_20171204_09_14_28_Pro

I should have worked with "Best guesses ??"

But when one know how the real thing is looking ....

It's easier to reproduce, so I will Scrathbuild THAT

WP_20171204_09_14_51_Pro

Will be fun, I already have load of resin parts that will fit :penguin:

Ok Dears, I start my evening work week today... So no more modelling !

Have a great modelling time !

Aaaaand take care !

Sincerely.

Good to see you tackling the Wings Fireball.  I'm a great believer in using power tools  to sand vacforms. I prefer to use a flat sanding disc  with a very coarse  (40 grit) pad. The use of a very coarse and very fast cutting  disc  means that you can  remove material very quickly  and you have to really concentrate on what you are doing. This may sound counter intuitive but it actually  ensures that you  do not take off material beyond what it required.  I have so often encountered  people saying that they had over sanded vacform parts and I've always put this down to  their  using  too fine a grit  paper and   losing concentration while they are sanding.

With a coarse  disc you'll be able to really thin those trailing edges and generally shift and sculpt the plastic, but as I've said  keep your wits about you!

Hello Dears,

I managed to have a clean part !

WP_20180502_21_57_35_Pro

Look like an injected one...

As soon as I cleaned up the second half fuselage, I start with the interiors and reinforcements

Luckily, looking at the pics, I should use some of my Corsairs resin parts !

Good Good !

Have a good modelling day

Sincerely.

You're doing an excellent job so far CC. This will look awesome when finished. I can't wait. I have this one buried some where in my stash,so if you don't mind I might stay and watch and take notes.

I do the same thing on vacs it saves a lot of time cleaning up edges, especially if its good sized. Matti64 is right keep your wits about you and pay attention, you'll save a bunch of time, let your thoughts stray and you won't save quite so much.

Hello Dears !

Time to put our Dear tentacled one in good use !!

So @Martian I follow your path !!

I think that I will button up the halves fuselages and stuff all the bits inside...

IMG_20200526_225155

Seem to be easier that way...

Can we call it a cunning plan ??

Sincerely.

Why, o why didn't I keep my trap shut about doing a vacform tutorial? The wretched thing has taken on a life and momentum of it's own!

You can call anything a cunning plan CC but only you and Baldrick would try it.
