sunray
What an excellent kit and photo etch set. The only downside of this kit is the pilot apart from that I loved this build and and the full build thread is at http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235023725-148-airfix-folland-gnat-t1/ Here are the photo's of the finished article. Here is a little extra bit with the help of my "little" 6ft fifteen year old son holding the Gnat in the air so I could take a photograph with the sky in the background. Then I Photoshoped the acrylic rod out. The other image I produced using Painter 2018 to produce the print as a bit of fun.
noelh
Ok, let me take it in. It was only posted two minutes ago according to the listing. Honestly it would be remiss of me to criticise any aspect of it. Particularly since my mouth remains open at the skill and ability shown in this model. Even the slightly smug look on the pilot's face. Well no wonder he's happy. He's flying a Gnat, as a pilot myself I would die happy to find myself in Folland's near perfect rendition of a jet plane. Very nicely done.

I am thinking about building another one in the near future but of the Red Arrows next time.
noelh
Well Sunray, as your name implies, you are in charge. I look forward to seeing a Red Arrows version. How about a bomb burst. I saw the Reds first in '79 at Valley. Go for it!

Most of my builds are done "in-flight" as I think they look more alive if you know what I mean. Have a look at my flickr page as I think you might enjoy it. All the photo's of my builds, airshows, etc. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ecirpnai/albums

noelh
Hmm Sunray, but they're not Gnats! It was my first British Airshow. They're were Hunters, Shackleton, F4s and Meteor targets. At one point I bought a bunch of the old Airfix Gnats and put them together as the Reds. But I never tried to put together the reds as a model. One day though on the Isle of Man I taxyed behind the Reds in my Cessna. I like to think of myself as Red Ten. Great fun. You know what you can do!
Rabbit Leader
Honesty - this Gnat kit posed in flight is really beautiful. You've done a marvellous job with both the overall kit finish and the photography of it. Excellent inspiration to crack open either my two 1/72 kits or the 1/48 one itself. Cheers.. Horatio Gruntfuttock
Stunning little Gnat - beautifully finished and posed. Mind you, the Blenheim looks amazingly realistic - fantastic work and photoshopping onto a sky background.
James B
Really beautiful finish there. The display is fantastic as well and really makes the model stand out. Great work and thank you for sharing.

I took the photo at Sunderland Air Show a few weeks ago while it was doing its display. Its already a film star as it was in the new Dunkirk film which was released in the UK on the same weekend. Paul J
I Like it! What would really set i off would be that well known background in many pics of the Mach Loop! Now that would really pull in viewers. Funnily enough, I picked up the 1/72 new tool Gnat on Saturday at Modelfest and set about it on Sunday. Planning to do a LAg and Dayglo as opposed the silver and dayglo.

HL-10
The Gnat is a lovely looking aeroplane, and it really looks great in this scheme! Great work, very impressive
Bangor Lad
That is a brilliant rendition of one of my favourite aircraft. It brings back very fond memories of seeing them overflying my home when they were operating out of RAF Valley. Smashing build which has inspired me to build one myself! Cheers

I might use that idea about the Mach Loop on my next attempt. As for the 1/72 Gnat, I have made one of them a few years ago and they are cracking little kits in fact I am thinking of making a few of them in the near future. Good luck with yours. 2 hours ago, Bangor Lad said: That is a brilliant rendition of one of my favourite aircraft. Cheers Dave I know what you mean. When I was a kid we used to go to North Wales for our holidays. I can remember watching these and then the Hawks flying pass us on the hills. I wish I had my DSLR camera then instead of my Kodak Instamatic. As kits go this one is a little gem and so is the photo etch set, so good luck with yours and I look forward in seeing the photo's.
