1/350 Trumpeter USS Momsen

Hi All

 

I have just managed to get hold of this kit for a bit of a steal  

 

And although I am looking forward to building this it has been many years since I last built a ship (I think it was an Airfix Leander class) so I need to brush up my ship building skills so I have a two part question   

 

Firstly

I was just wondering if anyone can offer and tips and advise on this kit,  for example would you paint the deck and hull separately before joining together then build and paint the superstructures before attaching?

 

 

Secondly

 

Trumpeter have designed this kit based on an earlier configuration of the Momsen without either a Phalanx CIWS fore or aft 

 

However I understand that some Flight IIA's including the Momsen have now had an aft CIWS fitted

 

Therefore as Trumpeter include a spare set of walls for the rear superstructure that includes CIWS platform, I intend to use these walls along with a little scratch building to add an aft CIWS station (I cant be 100% sure but it appears they also include the parts for the CIWS itself)

 

So with the addition of this and if I do not fit the Harpoon launchers would this represent the Momsen in its latest configuration or do I need to add or remove anything else?
