Fairey Gannet AS.4, Marineflieger

Hello,

Here's my just finished 1/72 Revell Gannet AS.4 in Marineflieger markings. I decided to do it as UA+110, which is preserved these days as UA+106 at the Luftwaffe museum at Gatow near Berlin. Bit of a mixed kit, some nice details, and some crappy fit, especially around the cockpit and clear parts. The tail hook snapped into 3 pieces, and one of the canopies has broken in two on the sprue. Painted with Humbrol enamels.

I hope you like it.

Great work on the model, I like the subtle weathering and the finish is really refined and realistic.

It's a very interesting looking subject, though I can't honestly say it's particularly good looking :D

What a nicely done Gannet in Marineflieger markings - great work very neat  - I wish Revell did an AS4 in 1/48 scale (and an AEW3)

Very nice work! I feel you pain with the kit, it is hard work getting it together. I had the exact same problem with the canopy on mine, thankfully Revell sent a replacement.

A cracking Gannet in rarely seen markings. You've done a great job despite the fit issues.

Very nicely done.  The kit is a bit over-engineered but, as you have shown, worth it in the end

From the number of people complaining about broken canopies with this kit, I have a theory that Revell employed a man specially to make sure that all Gannet canopies went out pre-snapped.

Beautiful. :analintruder:

Always loved the Gannet.

If mine turn outs half as good as yours I'll pleased. :goodjob:

Hello Pete,

Despite the encountered problems, you turned this gannet into a showroom model.

My compliments. Regards, Orion / The Netherlands.

Looking great!!!

Just as good as the original in Gatow ;) Just hope that they will restore one of the other hangar and safe more aircraft...it's a shame!!!

Wish someone would do a 1/48 kit

I know where you're coming from with the fitment etc. But I have to say it has turned out rather splendidly old bean.

Thanks! It's sad how many pretty rare aircraft are just rusting away outside at Gatow. That's the downside of having a museum at an old airfield, I guess.

A 1/48 kit would be most welcome, yes.

That must be the first time someone calls me an old bean.

Cracking bit o' Gannetry. You've delivered a really nice restrained quality on that.

Splendid work!
