Great stuff Jerzy

Amazing number of Vacforms in this GB, we might be starting a Vacform revival !

cheers Pat

Which would be no bad thing in this Martian's opinion!

Incidentally Pat, how is you own mini vacform revival coming along?

Martian, looming like a giant alien looming thing.

I am not starting yet (having two other models to finish first) but let see what is in the bags:

1. Ripon

rip DSC06509rip DSC06510rip DSC06511rip DSC06512

I have a spare Aeroclub Bristol engine as well as exhaust colector ring and inlets ring from SH Vildebeest. For consideration:

rip DSC06513

Hoover:

Please note that from some unknown reasons I have bonus in form of doubed injection parts set. So I can do also Ripon with Armstrong Panther engine. This is for consideration...

Besides a lot of material from Net I ahve this book with some inetersting and good quality photos of both machines

Hi J-W,

Welcome to the GB! Indeed another two vacforms joining the party! You're a really brave BMer, I'd never a vacform kit with a 1 meter long stick :)

Anyway, you've chosen two interesting aircraft and I look forward to seeing them taking shape! Good luck!

Cheers

So, you're a vacform specialist?

I do not think so. I would be after doing some 50-70.... This is still phase of gathering experience. This year I made my first vacu biplane (Polikarpov R5 by MPM). Those will be first biplanes on floats - I expect new and special kind of construction problems.

I have complete confidence in you..... so no pressure then !  ;)

the fuselage looks really deep in the film, I wonder why they designed it that way ?

Pat, I think that fuselage is not so deep as it might be - the lower wing is a seagull shape, if it would be stright the fuselage will be much deeper... But honestly - I do not know if it is really deep. It is similar to Swordfish, for example regarding depth.

I am approaching to start. The first "obstacle" is removed: I have just finished first of two "29" which I am doing - the B 29. It is on RFI now. The second "29" - Potez 29 needes soem surface detailing and painting. When I'll go with this - I can start...

Cheers

Hello Jerzy,

The 2 29 !! You can hang the Potez Under the wing of the B-29 !! Will go to see that !

Eager to see the Ripon's building,

Vac form revival ? To me it's just Vac form discovery !

Good luck with these ones, will follow with great interest !

Will Airfix give us a Ripon at 1/48 ?? :worthy::worthy::worthy: 3 humble prayers, may be a 4th ?? :worthy:

Sincerely.

That is a superb clip Jerzy. I'm wondering how much the Finnish Ripon differed to the Royal Navy version? To my eye I'm not seeing much. As an aside, I wonder what the town is that has that beautiful church with so many roads radiating out from it at about 3 minutes. A quick wander through google maps didn't find it, of course, it is possible it is no longer in Finland? :(

Steve, I think that at least the castle is Wyborg, which is actually now in Russia, this city was lost in Winter War to Soviet Union.

The Finish Ripon is not very different I think from British one. The kit itself  and my materials (photos, drawings) are right for Finish so I do not know exacly details of a British one.

I am for this week (till tomorrow) on a duty trip to Oslo. Today I found some time to visit a nice model shop ( Ensjbovein No 7) and get there  archive number of Norwegian journal "Flyhistorie" No 35 (2015) with article (with photos and profiles) on Hover...A nice bonus of trip :).

Best regards

J-W.

Hi.

I started not waiting for Potez 29 finish. I will do this in parellel. I have just cut out all vacu parts. I used for this purpose a small rotating wlwctric saw - by Dremel. The surfaces are not trimmed/sanded yet.

Here are vacu parts of Ripon (wings, floats, fuselage, tailplane):

rip DSC06855

And here the same  for Hover MF 11

hov DSC06854

I made a small scarf on surface of one float. I have to correct it.

And here are photos of front pages of my newly bought in Oslo books :

In the latest you may see Hover in camo from 1940 campaign

Cheers
